Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) is establishing a 1200-kV National Test Station at Bina in Madhya Pradesh.“It is a unique collaborative effort where leading manufacturers have joined hands with Power Grid for indigenously developing the technology for transmitting power at 1200 kV,” a statement from equipment manufacturers' association IEEMA said.
A total of 35 electrical equipment manufacturers in the ultra high voltage segment, including 25 IEEMA members, have actively collaborated with PGCIL for design and development of the required 1200 KV equipment indigenously, it said.
Equipment successfully developed under the venture includes transformers, circuit breakers and insulators, transmission line towers and conductors. “IEEMA has been actively coordinating with PGCIL in the implementation of the indigenous development of electrical equipment required for setting up of 1200 kV Test Station at Bina,” the statement said.
