Engineering major, Larsen &Toubro (L&T), today, said it has bagged a Rs 1,449 crore balance-of-plant (BOP) contract for DB Power Limited's 2x600 MW thermal power plant at Baradarha in the Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh. As per the terms of the contract, L&T will design, engineer, supply, erect and commission the BOP equipment and systems on an EPC basis, as well as the associated services. L&T's scope of work in the contract includes civil, structural and architectural works for coal and ash handling plants, chimney, natural draft cooling towers and switchyard.
L&T is currently executing similar sub-critical BOP contracts and several large supercritical contracts, as a part of offering integrated EPC solutions. The company has entered into collaboration with Mitsubishi Heavy Engineering for the manufacture of supercritical boilers and turbines. L&T has also set up facilities in Hazira for the manufacture of supercritical equipment and components, including high pressure piping, coal pulverizers, electrostatic-precipitators (ESPs) and heavy forgings.
