Ministry takes control of non-APM gas allocation

The petroleum ministry has decided to take control of allocation of additional non-APM gas from ONGC's Rajahmundry asset which will be delivered through GAIL's KG basin grid.

  • In this context, GAIL has been told to submit proposals for commercial utilisation of all non-APM natural gas which is distributed through the KG basin grid. The implementation of the proposals will be subject to the examination and approval of the petroleum ministry. Customers for the gas will be finalised by the ministry itself.
  • Pertinently, the availability of additional non-APM natural gas from ONGC's Rajahmundry asset is estimated as follows:
  •   --20,000 scmd for 12 years from GS-49 field.
  •   --5,000 scmd for two years from Kavitam field.
  •   --18,000 scmd of gas, to be supplied on fallback basis, from seven other isolated and marginal fields in the Rajahmundry asset. These fields include the Turupatalu-1 (4,000 scmd), Mandapeta#23 (2,500 scmd), Achanta#1 (2,500 scmd), Akividu (2,000 scmd), Gokarnapuram#1 (2,500 scmd), Suryaraopeta-4 (2,500 scmd) and Kaiklaur-16 (2,000 scmd).
  • Notably, the price of this gas at the delivery point will be approximately $4.5 per mmbtu.
  • While natural gas from the GS-49 and Kavitam fields will be supplied through the KG basin grid, gas from the other seven fields will be available only from the respective well sites.
