Welspun, Torrent Power, NTPC & THDC sign MoUs with UP govt for power plant

The Welspun Group, Torrent Power, NTPC and THDC have signed 4 separate MoU’s with the Uttar Pradesh government to set up four power plants of 1,320 MW each in the state. The companies would invest INR 26,400 crores over the next 4 to 5 years and when commissioned would together generate 5,280MW of power.

Secretary Power Navneet Sehgal said that the four companies which signed MoU’s are committed to execute the power project at the earliest as they had undertaken bank guarantees at the rate of INR 500,000 per MW for achieving financial closure of their projects within 18 months.
He said that public sector undertakings NTPC and Tehri Hydro Development Corporation have signed MoU’s for setting up 1,320 MW plant at Bilhaur and Khurja respectively. Both would supply 60% of the power generated to the state government.
Welspun group would be setting up a 1,320 MW thermal power plant in the backward district of Ghazipur.
