APDiscoms sign deals with NTPC, APGenco

AP Distribution Companies (APDiscoms) have concluded Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with APGENCO and NTPC in respect of a string of power projects proposed by the two companies in the State.The power projects include Lower Jurala Hydro Electric Project (6 x 40 MW), Pulichintala Hydro Electric project (4 x 30 MW), Nagarjuna Sagar Tail Pond Dam Hydro project (2 x 25 MW) and 4,000-MW thermal project of NTPC at Pudimadaka village, Visakhapatnam district.
Procurement of power from these hydel projects will be beneficial to the State in terms of lower tariff vis-à-vis thermal/gas power projects. Also, the proposed capacity addition to the tune of 2,410 MW would bridge the gap between supply and demand to a large extent, an official release said.
