Reliance Power's Sasan UMPP: Land acquisition almost complete

  • Hastening the commissioning of the 3,960 MW Sasan UMPP in Madhya Pradesh, Reliance Power`s subsidiary-- Sasan Power Limited (SPL)-- acquired 236.39 more acres of land for the project over the last month.
  • With this, the total of acquired land has reached 3,027.28 acres, or around 81.2% of the revised land requirement of 3,728.47 acres.
  • Further, going by the latest figures released by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), around 1,879.47 acres of land is now available with the developer for the construction of the main plant, against the estimated requirement of 2,034.21 acres.
  • Likewise, 473.69 acres of land has been acquired, out of the 811.4 acres needed, for the construction of the ash pond, while around 429.31 acres, out of the total land requirement of 448.37 acres for the residential colony, have been acquired by SPL.
  • For the coal handling plant and other important project components, such as the intake and discharge water channels, ash pipeline, etc., 199.10 acres of land, out of 235.81 acres, has been acquired, while another 45.71 acres have been acquired for developing coal transportation facilities. The requirement for the fuel evacuation system is pegged at 198.68 acres of land.
