NTPC-BHEL JV-III: SBI Capital to help identify third strategic partner

In a bid to facilitate identification of a third strategic partner, as per its founding charter, SBI Capital is likely to be appointed by the JV company, NBPPL, as consultant by March this year, to act as a guide for NTPC and BHEL, the existing partners.
  • This comes as the power ministry has asked the two central firms to complete the entire process in due time.
  • This third partner will bring in much-needed expertise and funds for the manufacture of mainly critical balance of plant equipment, such as coal and ash handling plants.
  • That apart, the equipment manufacturing joint venture is also likely to finalize technological tie-ups with two US-based firms within the current fiscal.
  • The JV company has identified Dearborn Mid-West Conveyor company (DMW) as partner for coal handling plants, while United Conveyor Corporation (UCC) is likely to provide assistance for ash handling plants.
