Rohit's father Bisahu Khare had given away 7.12 acres of land for NTPC's Sipat Power project in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh about 10 years ago. As per the rehabilitation policy, Rohit was supposed to get a job in the Sipat power plant which he did not."I was called for an interview in May 2008 and was selected for a job," Rohit said. Over two years has passed since then, but he did not get any communication from the company.
The case of Pramod Suri was not much different. He failed to get posting even after getting selected for a job in NTPC's 2980-Mw Sipat power plant coming up in 4,300 acres of area, about 140 km from here.Besides two units of 500-Mw each, the project will have three units of 660-Mw each to be operated with super critical boilers' first project in the country to run with super critical technology.
Youths filed a petition in Chhattisgarh High Court said that they had lost their land to the project and the company was reluctant to provide job causing finacial hardship for them. The High Court issued notices to the general manager of NTPC, Sipat project besides revenue secretary of the Chhattisgarh government and District Collector of Bilaspur seeking explanations.A spokesperson of NTPC Sipat said they had come to know about the notice but were yet to get the copy of the order."Once we get the copy, we would be in a position to comment," the spokesperson added.
