Speaking at the sidelines of the World Economic Forum's India Economic Summit, Mr Ravi Sharma, CEO, Adani Power, India, said, “We are going to commission one unit of 330 MW this month and the first super-critical unit of 660 MW will be commissioned by the end of December. We are constructing plants with a capacity of 16,500 MW, which will be commissioned by 2014.” Currently, the company has a power generation capacity of 990 MW. From 2011, it expects to add a 660 MW plant every quarter. Adani Power also expects to start the first unit of its 3,300 MW Tiroda (Maharashtra) plant next year, said Mr Sharma. The company has plans to invest Rs 82,500 crore for development of these plants, increasing the company's existing generation capacity by 17 times to 16,500 MW. In collaboration with its Indonesian arm, Adani Power has also been shortlisted by the Kosovo government as a pre-qualified bidder among four companies for two coal-based power plants of 560 MW and 678-MW capacity.
