While the power sector managed to exceed the capacity addition goal set by the power ministry for the month of October 2010, power generation again fell short, although barely. Against a capacity addition target of 1,473.50 MW set for the month, a total of 2,085 MW was actually achieved, a 41.5% excess. The scenario was similar in October 2009, when a capacity of 1,334 MW was added, against the target of 1,019 MW.
- Around 70,558.42 million units (MU) were actually generated in the country during October 2010, cumulatively, against the targeted total of 71,202.96 MU, implying a 99.09% achievement, a shortfall of 644.54 MU. The corresponding achievement for October 2009 was recorded as 95.86%.
- For reference purposes, the website carries here, capacity addition and generation data for the month of October 2010. The data, disaggregated with respect to all four major sources -- thermal, hydro, nuclear and renewable-- is contrasted against the corresponding targets and achievement in power generation and capacity addition for the same period of the previous year.
