Subsequent to the Ministry of Coal's (MoC) show-cause notice, state owned power major, NTPC, has refused to shoulder the responsibility of any slackness or underperformance, as far as the development of the Talaipalli coal block is concerned. It has in fact stated that any punitive measures like de-allocation would be totally inappropriate and uncalled for.
- Affirming to have taken all the necessary steps, the company has informed the ministry that milestones like exploration, preparation of geological report, EIA/EMP study and socio economic survey have been completed. Further, NTPC-SCCL global ventures has been appointed as the the Mine Developer-cum-Operator (MDO) recently and the process of land acquisition and forestry clearance are underway. The company expected to commence power generation from Lara power project last month.
- In view of the above mentioned progress, NTPC has clearly denied to take any charges as imposed by the Coal ministry and instead requested it to be lenient in the name of the company's and nation's interest as a whole.
