The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has  released a progress dossier on the performance of the country's power sector, as  of August 2010. This report mainly provides the following  information:
Installed generation capacity, as of August 31,  2010.With the addition of around 839 MW of fresh capacity during August  2010, the installed power generation capacity of the country has increased to  1,64,508.80 MW.
Generation capacity addition during FY 2010-11.Against the target of 21,441.2 MW during the fiscal, a total of 4,193 MW or 19.6% of the target has been added so far.

Status of CEA-concurrence for hydroelectric  schemes.The CEA has concurred two HEPs, so far, in the fiscal, while it  returned DPRs of 12 HEPs back to their developers for  modification.
All-India figures for thermal plant load factor (PLF).An average PLF of 73.63% was recorded at the already-operational thermal power stations over April-August 2010.
Power supply position during August 2011
 Out of the target of 8,30,765.5 MUs for April-March  2010-11, around 3,32,771.03 MUs have already been generated in the country. This  implies a 40.06% achievement of the generation target for the  fiscal.
All-India figures for thermal plant load factor (PLF).An average PLF of 73.63% was recorded at the already-operational thermal power stations over April-August 2010.
Power supply position during August 2011
 A peak deficit of  10.7% and an energy deficit of 7.5% in electricity supply were observed during  the month.
