NTPC gets Govt nod to sell 15% power from two units in spot market

NTPC Ltd said on Tuesday the Ministry of Power has allowed it to sell 15 per cent of electricity from a 500 MW unit each at its Korba and Farakka stations in the merchant power market.
“The Ministry of Power has allowed 15 per cent of power to be sold outside long-term PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) in respect of each of Unit 7 of Korba Super Thermal Power project and Unit 6 of Farakka Super Thermal Power project. The balance power will be sold through PPAs to be entered by NTPC with State power utilities,” NTPC informed the bourses.
The power major has also signed a PPA with West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd for offtake of power from the 1,600 MW Katwa Super Thermal Power project located at the Bardwan district of West Bengal, it said.
