The Planning Commission is not very optimistic about the power sector's performance over the ongoing fiscal. This pessimism is driven by the fact that the country has, up till November 15, 2010, achieved only 35% of its capacity addition targets for 2010-11, even as more than half the year has passed. As against a targeted capacity of 20,359 MW for the year, the power sector has added only about 7059 MW worth of capacity.
- The website carries here, a sector-wise and quarter-wise comparison on the capacity addition targets versus achievements for the fiscal, as of mid-November 2010. The information here, is delineated in terms of thermal, hydro and nuclear segments.
- Names of projects that are likely to be pushed to the next fiscal are also given. Alongside, the data also presents the status of 11th plan projects that are expected to be on steam by the end of the fiscal.
