MoEF Committee holds 10th meet: Clears 4 TPPs for environment clearance

The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC), under the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), has recommended four thermal power projects (TPP) for environment clearance during its meeting held over November 1-2, 2010. Alongside, the EAC has prescribed terms of reference (ToR) for 12 other projects. Some of the more important projects have been listed below:
Projects recommended for environment clearance
--Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited's (GSECL) 395 MW gas-based Expansion TPP at Dhuvaran in the Anand district of Gujarat.
--Jindal Power Limited's 1,200 MW coal-based Expansion TPP at Tamnar in the Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh.
--Chettinad Power Corporation Private Limited's 2x600 MW imported coal-based TPP in the Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu.
--Lanco Vidarbha Thermal Power Limited's 2x660 MW TPP at Mandva in the Wardha district of Maharashtra.
Projects prescribed ToR
--NTPC's 700 MW Stage-II Expansion gas-based TPP at National Capital Power Station Dadari, Uttar Pradesh.
--NTPC's 2x660 MW coal-based TPP in the Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh.
--Meenakshi Energy Private Limited's 2x660 MW Phase-III Expansion project at Thamminapatnam in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.
--India Power Corporation Limited's 2x660 MW TPP in the Purba Champaran district of Bihar.
--Jindal Steel & Power Limited's 2x660 MW captive TPP in the Godda district of Jharkhand.
