Jharkhand JV with NTPC to raise the capacity of power generation from Tenughat Vidyut Nigam Limited at Lalpania in Bokaro district

Jharkhand government has agreed in principle to form a joint venture with the state-run National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to raise the capacity of power generation from the state’s Tenughat Vidyut Nigam Limited (TVNL) at Lalpania in Bokaro district.
Chief minister Arjun Munda, who also holds the energy portfolio at a meeting in the state capital recently with the NTPC chairman and Managing director Arup Roy Choudhury, requested to finalise modalities for the proposed joint venture.
It may be mentioned that Munda after assuming office as chief minister on September 11, has been giving much importance on the development of the state’s infrastructure.In the recent energy review meeting attended by the state chief secretary A K Singh, state electricity board chairman Shiv Basant, development commissioner S K Choudhury and others, chief minister asked them to make all efforts in increasing power generation from the state’s two thermal power stations – Patratu Thermal Power Station (PTPS) and TVNL.Meanwhile, the state government has decided to give work order on laying new transmission lines and strengthening existing transmission network to Power Grid Corporation to facilitate smooth transfer of power generated from TVNL and PTPS to the grid stations.
