MoEF Committee recommends 8 TPPs for environment clearance, prescribes ToR for 16 others

The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC), under the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), has recommended eight thermal power projects (TPP) for environment clearance during its meeting held over September 6-7, 2010. Alongside, the EAC has prescribed terms of reference (ToR) for 16 other projects. Some of the more important projects have been listed below:
    Projects recommended for environment clearance
 --Jas Infrastructure Capital Private Limited's 4x660 MW coal-based TPP at Siriya in the Banka district of Bihar.
 --Nabinagar Power Generating Company's 3x660 MW super-critical technology based Nabinagar TPP in Aurangabad the district of Bihar.
 --Neyveli Lignite Corporation's 1,000 MW lignite-based TPP at Neyveli in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu.
 --Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation's 1x600 MW (Stage-IV) Expansion of the existing 5x210 MW Rayalseema coal-based TPP in the Kadapa district of Andhra 
Projects prescribed ToR
 --Bharuch Power Limited's 9x800 MW gas-based power project in the Bharuch district of Gujarat.

 --Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company Limited's Proposed 5x800 MW super-critical technology based Vadarevu TPP in the Prakasan district of Andhra Pradesh. 

 --Maharashtra State Power Generation Company's 4x800 MW super-critical technology based Dhopave TPP in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. 
 --JR Power Gen Private Limited's 3x600 MW coal-based TPP in the Angul district of Orissa.
 --Hari Hareshwar Power Company Private Limited's 2x800 MW TPP in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra.
