Loharinagpala HEP-II: Substantial amount of work already completed

Before the Ministry of Power (MoP) suspended all ongoing activities at NTPC's Loharinag Pala HEP, the developer had managed to achieve substantial progress at the project site. Here, a brief summary of the development milestones achieved by the power major: 
  • Statutory clearances:

 --NOC from SPCB
 --Clearance from the Ministry of Defence
 --Environmental and forest clearance from MoE&F
 --Implementation Agreement signed with the Government of Uttarakhand
  • Physical progress-Civil works
1. Barrage and desilting chamber
 Excavation for river diversion: 100%; desilting chamber arch widening: 100%; inspection shafts excavation: 100%; excavation for barrage: 90%; inlet/outlet tunnels: 80%; concreting of barrage: 24%
2.  Formation of approach roads to adits of HRT
 Approach road to Dabrani and Gunga Adit: 100%; Approach road to Helgu Adit: 42%
3. Power house and penstock
 Surge shaft pilot boring & reaming:100%; adit to surge shaft & pressure shaft: 100%; tail race tunnel: 86%; main access tunnel: 72%; power house pilot excavation: 39%; switchyard: 42%
4. Dabrani and Gunga Adit to Head race tunnel (HRT): 100%
5. HRT excavation: 20%
