Power ministry request MoC for coal linkage for Gajmara-I STPP

Taking up cudgels for NTPC, the Ministry of Power has urged the coal ministry to expeditiously grant coal linkage for the utility's 1600 MW super thermal power plant at Gajmara, in Orissa, being implemented through bulk tenderingThis comes as the project developer has already concluded various tasks preparatory to commencement of construction. Prerequisite studies, related to topography, geo-technical surveys, hydrographic and ash utilization, have been completed. Further, while socio economics and seismic studies are underway, the environment impact assessment (EIA) is done.

  • Further, the NOC from Airport Authority of India (AAI) has been received; however, defence clearance is still awaited.
  • The land acquisition process is also underway and the company has received administrative approval for the same. NTPC is now awaiting notification from district authorities in this regard.
  • The Gajmara-I STPP will consist of two coal-based thermal power stations of 800 MW each in the Dhenkanal district of the state of Orissa.
