
State-run NHPC Ltd, today, reported a
94.43% surge in its net profit, for
FY10, which reached
Rs 2,090.50 crore, against Rs 1,075.22 crore recorded during the previous year. During the fiscal
2009-10, the company achieved an all time high sales turnover of
Rs 4,218.90 crore, 57.90% higher than the previous fiscal`s
Rs 2,671.85 crore. NHPC also achieved its all time high sales realization of
Rs 3,603.93 crore, a 48.90% improvement.During the fiscal, the power stations of NHPC generated a total of 16,960 million units (MU) of energy, exceeding their annual target, of 16,381 MU, and the 16,690 MU generated during the previous year. The operating power stations of the company achieved a Plant Availability Factor (PAF) of 84.1%, against the MoU target of 79.89%.

The company has
already commissioned two hydroelectric projects, with an aggregate capacity of
1,030 MW, during the current Five Year Plan period. These are the
520 MW Omkareshwar, located in the
Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, and the 510 MW Teesta-V in Sikkim. Since its inception, in
1975, the hydel major has executed a total of
13 projects, worth 5,175 MW, including projects taken up in joint venture. NHPC has also executed
five projects, with a cumulative capacity of
89.35 MW, on turnkey basis.
Presently, NHPC is engaged in the construction of 11 projects aggregating to 4622 MW. NHPC added 1,970 MW of capacity during the 10th Plan period and plans to add a total of 5,322 MW during the 11th Plan. Nine projects, worth 8,481 MW capacity, of the company are awaiting clearance from the government for their implementation.
