GAIL to sign GSPA for setting up six 1000 MW power projects in DMIC project

GAIL is in the process of signing a Gas Sale Agreement (GSA) with Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC) for sourcing and supplying gas for power plants proposed to be set up in the region. It may be noted that DMICDC plans to develop six gas based power projects of 1,000 MW capacity each in the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor to supply electricity in the region.

The projected demand for power in the DMIC region has been estimated at 27,200 MW in the first phase (2013-14) and at 71,000 MW in the final phase (2039-40). A quantum of 4 MMSCMD of gas will be required for fuelling the six power plants. GAIL has forwarded the GSA to DMICDC, stipulating a contract term of up to 20 years, which is extendable on mutual agreement.
