Adani Power proposes 1200 Mw power plant in Chhattisgarh

"How the Chhattisgarh government has given consent to the company to set up a power plant adjacent to Ambikapur railway station?" Congress legislator from Ambikapur T S Singhdeo asked in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly.
Besides posing threat to environment, the project would also cause inconvenience to the people in the city, he added.
Singhdeo also enquired about the Environment Impact Report of the company. The Congress legislator charged that the state government was ignoring the norms while granting consent to the power companies coming up in the region.
The Chhattisgarh Government however clarified that the proposal of Adani Power Limited (APL) was only in the preliminary stage. "The company has only selected the site while it is yet to receive the environment clearances," chief minister Raman Singh said.
The public hearing for getting environment clearances is also yet to take place, Singh said, adding that once the company gets the required clearances, the state government will take the final decision of allotting the land to the company.
As of now, the land selected by the company has not been finalized for allotment by the government, Singh clarified.

The APL would be requiring 178.74 hectares of land for the Sarguja project.A power company had proposed to set up a project adjacent to a railway station in Sarguja district of Chhattisgarh.

Adani Power, a subsidiary of Gujarat-based conglomerate Adani group, had proposed to set up a 1200-Mw power plant in Sarguja district, about 350 Km north of Chhattisgarh capital. The company has selected the site for the project that is adjacent to the railway station in Ambikapur, the divisional headquarters of Sarguja.
