21 Thermal Power Plant achieved 90%+ PLF during 2009-10 fiscal

As per the electrical energy generation report released by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) for the period April 2009 to March 2010, a total of 21 thermal power stations (TPS), with a cumulative generation capacity of 25,237.5 MW, registered a plant load factor (PLF) of more than 90% during the just-ended fiscal. Out of the total, 10 TPS are run by central public sector undertakings (CPSU), 5 are run by state PSUs, while the remaining six are privately-owned.
Pertinently, Reliance Energy Limited's 500 MW Dahanu TPS in Maharashtra registered the highest PLF, of 102.33%, during the fiscal, followed by NTPC's 2,100 MW Korba super TPS (97.61%), 1,050 MW Unchahar TPS (97.33%), 1,000 MW Simhadri super TPS (97.27%) and 1,330 MW Dadri power station with an average PLF of 96.72%. Notably, the thermal power stations of the country, on an average, exhibited a PLF of 77.5% for the fiscal.
