Auction details for Central & state govt. UMPPs

A total of 12 power projects have been, so far, bidded-out by the Centre, as well as state governments, to developers that are responsible for all project developmental activities and the subsequent sale of power to the beneficiary states. These projects include the four ultra mega power projects (UMPP), one each at Sasan, Mundra, Krishnapatnam and Tilaiya, awarded by the Power Finance Corporation, the nodal agency for these power plants. These have been bid out as follows:
 3,960 MW Sasan UMPP in Madhya Pradesh
 Awarded to Anil Ambani-led Reliance Power Limited in 2008 at a tariff of Rs 1.196/kWh.
 3,960 MW Krishnapatnam UMPP in Andhra Pradesh
 Awarded to Reliance Power in 2009 at a tariff of Rs 2.33/kWh.
 4,000 MW Tilaiya UMPP in Jharkhand





 Awarded to Reliance Power in 2009 at a tariff of Rs 1.77/kWh.

 4,000 MW Mundra UMPP in Gujarat 





 Awarded to Tata Power Company Limited in 2008 at a tariff of Rs 2.26/kWh.








Of the total of 12 power projects already awarded out via Case-II bidding, eight thermal power projects (TPP) were under the domain of various state governments, which have now transferred all execution rights to bidders quoting the lowest respective tariffs. Amongst them, the northern state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) has witnessed the award of four projects, followed by Punjab, where two TPPs have been awarded to private players. The Haryana and Chhattisgarh governments have awarded one thermal venture,each, to the qualified bidders. The state-wise details of these TPPs have been flagged below:


 UP
 --1,980 MW Prayagraj TPP: Awarded to Lanco Infratech in 2008 at a tariff of Rs 2.88/kWh.
 --1,320 MW Sangam TPP: Awarded to Lanco Infratech in 2008 at a tariff of Rs 2.83/kWh.

 --1,980 MW Bara TPP: Awarded to Jaypee Associates in 2009 at a tariff of Rs 3.02/kWh.


 --1,320 MW Karchana TPP: Awarded to Jaypee Associates in 2009 at a tariff of Rs 2.97/kWh.


 Punjab


 --2,000 MW Talwandi Sabo TPP: Awarded to Sterlite Energy Limited in 2009 at a tariff of Rs 2.86/kWh.


 --1,320 MW Rajpura TPP: Awarded to L&T in 2009 at a tariff of Rs 2.89/kWh.


 Haryana


 --1,320 MW Jhajjar TPP: Awarded to China Light and Power in 2008 at a tariff of Rs 2.99/kWh.


 Chhattisgarh

 --1,320 MW Bhaiyathan TPP: Awarded to Indiabulls Power Generation Limited in 2008 at a tariff of Rs 0.81/kWh.
