Orissa government clears four new 1320 MW capacity each power projects worth about Rs 400 billion

The high level committee under the Chairmansship of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved the proposals for setting up four new power plants and expansion of some power , steel and Aluminum  plants on Tuesday.The high level meeting held in the Orissa Secretariat on Tuesday under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The Committee has approved the proposals four power projects namely KU Project, NSL Nagapatnam, ASPI Ports  and Kalinga Energy Power Ltd. Similarly The Rohit Ferro Alloys has also granted permission for construction of own power plant.
KU Project will set up a power plant of 1320 MW at Thakurpur of Sonepur in an investment of Rs 7,260 crore. The NSL Nagpatnam will set up a 1320 MW power plant at Angul ,SPI Ports will construct a power plant of 1320 MW at Mohakalpara of Kendrapara district with an investment of Rs 6600 crore.
The Kalinga Energy  and Power Ltd. Will expand its 1000MW power plant at Jharsuguda to 1330 MW capacity. The Company will invest Rs 6500 crore for expansion of this project. The Jindal India Thermal Power Ltd. Will expand its plant at Jeranga of Dhenkanal district from 1200 MW to 1800MWThe Company will invest Rs 8,000 crore for this expansion . Ind Bharat Ltd will expand its power project at Jharsuguda from 700 MW to 1360MW with an investment of Rs 3300 crore. The ACC cement company will construct its own power plant in its cement factory at Malkangiri with an investment of Rs 1850 crore. Bhusan Steel plant will construct a down stream project in its steel plant at Meramunduli in an investment of Rs 3,000 crore.
