Progress of transmission sector during April-July'10: 569 Ckm of 500 kV HVDC lines laid

According to the latest report released by Central Electricity Authority (CEA) on the progress of transmission projects in the country, a total of 569 circuit kilometers (Ckm) of 500 kV HVDC transmission lines, 238 Ckm of 765 kV lines, 2,196 Ckm of 400 kV lines, and 1,898 Ckm of 220 kV lines were strung over April-July 2010. Out of these, 151 Ckm of 500 kV HVDC lines, 19 Ckm of 765 kV lines, 786 Ckm of 400 kV lines and 625 Ckm of 220 kV lines were laid during July 2010. Notably, 225 Ckm of 800 kV HVDC lines, 1,000 Ckm of 500 kV HVDC lines, 735 Ckm of 765 kV lines, 11,045 Ckm of 400 kV lines and 6,268 Ckm of 220 kV transmission lines are due to be installed in the country over the course of the current fiscal.



 Further, during the first four months of the 2010-11 fiscal, 2,520 MVA worth of 400 kV sub-stations were installed in the country, along with 220 kV sub-stations worth 1,940 MVA capacity. Out of these, 250 MVA worth of 220 kV sub-stations were installed during July 2010. By the end of the fiscal, 2,500 MVA worth of 500 kV HVDC sub-stations, 400 kV sub-stations totaling 18,510 MVA capacity, and 220 kV sub-stations of 12,751 MVA capacity are targeted to be commissioned in the country.



 During the XI Plan period, so far, a total of 8,021 Ckm of 500 kV HVDC transmission cables have been laid, along with 3,801 Ckm of 765 kV lines, 99,549 Ckm of 400 kV lines and 1,29,997 Ckm of 220 kV lines, as of July 31, 2010. Alongside, 8,700 MVA worth of 500 kV HVDC converter sub-stations, 765 kV sub-stations worth 4,500 MVA, 400 kV sub-stations worth 1,18,947 MVA and 220 kV sub-stations worth 1,91,065 MVA have been installed, so far, during the ongoing Plan.
