BHEL deploys new, more efficient technology at newly synchronised second 490 MW unit at NTPC's Dadri stage-II in Uttar Pradesh

Equipment major Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has incorporated a new, more efficient technology at the newly synchronised second 490 MW unit at NTPC Ltd's Dadri (stage-II) in Uttar Pradesh. These new machines deployed at the site have a better heat rate, leading to a direct reduction of coal consumption to the tune of 12,000 tonnes per annum for a unit, a BHEL statement said. The units also comprise advanced control, instrumentation and monitoring systems. “Significantly, these are the first of their kind indigenous units, which have been designed for operating at a higher reheat steam temperature of 565 degree Celsius… Higher steam parameter ensures reduced coal consumption and better performance with respect to the environment,” it said. This is the second 490 MW Unit deployed at the Dadri thermal power site, having higher steam parameters that ensures reduced coal consumption and better performance with respect to the environment.
