The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC), under the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), has recommended six thermal power projects (TPP) for environment clearance during its meeting held over July 7-9, 2010. Alongside, the EAC has prescribed terms of reference (ToR) for 19 other projects. Some of the more important projects have been listed below:

--NTPC's 2x660 MW super-critical technology based Solapur thermal power plant (TPP) in the Solapur district of Maharashtra.
--West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited's 2x500 MW Expansion of the existing 2x300 MW Sagardighi thermal power station (TPS) in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal.
--Meja Urja Nigam 2x660 MW super-critical technology based Meja TPP in Allahbad district of Uttar Pradesh.
--Torrent Energy Limited's 1x382.5 MW Expansion power plant in the Surat district of Gujarat.

--Universal Crescent Power Private Limited's 6x660 MW super-critical technology based TPP in the Jamnagar district of Gujarat.
--Tiana Power Projects Limited's 3x800 MW super-critical technology based TPP in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra.
--Tamil Nadu Electricity Board's 2x800 MW super-critical technology based TPP in the Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu.

--Adani Pench Power Limited's 2x660 MW super-critical technology based TPP in the Chindwara district of Madhya Pradesh.

--Udupi Power Corporation's 2x660 MW super-critical technology based Expansion of the 1,200 MW TPP in the Udupi district of Karnataka.
--Lanco Amarkantak Power's 2x660 MW super-critical technology based Expansion of the 1,920 MW TPP at Pathadi in the Korba district of Chhattisgarh.
--BGR Energy Systems Limited's 2x660 MW super-critical technology based TPP in the Nayagarh district of Orissa.
--DMICDC Indapur Power Company's two gas-based TPPs, worth 1,300 MW capacity, each in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
--NTPC's 1x500 Stage-IV Expansion of the 1,050 MW Feroz Gandhi Unchahar TPP in the Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh.
