Engineering and construction major, Larsen and Toubro (L&T), said it has secured orders worth Rs 1,015 crore for various transmission and distribution projects in India and in the Gulf. The Electrical and Gulf Projects Operating Company, a part of Larsen and Toubro's (L&T) construction division, has secured orders worth Rs 811 crore from the Gulf market. One order involves construction of two 3x132 kilovolt (kV) substations at Al Wathba in the Mohd Bin Zayed City, and at the Sudha Port in Fujairah. The company has also received an order from Oman Electricity & Transmission Company (OETC) for the execution of a 132/33 kV substation in the Quariyat area , as well as for the installation of overhead lines in the Muscat governorate region.
In the domestic market, L&T has bagged three orders, valued, cumulatively, at Rs 204 crore. These contracts comprise of construction of a 220/66 kV substation in Bangalore for Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation (KPTCL), 220 kV substation at Dhule and Bhableshwar in Maharashtra for Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company (MSETCL) and conversion of 11 kV overhead lines to an underground network in Margao for Goa Electricity Department. "The Electrical &Gulf Projects Operating Company has been making significant strides in the area of power transmission and distribution projects both in the international and domestic markets having gained valuable expertise with its advanced technology in project execution in the Ultra High Voltage PT&D segment – up to 765 kV substations and transmission lines" said an L&T statement.
