NTPC asks for ministerial intervention to acquire KG D6 gas

NTPC has called on the Ministry of Power (MoP) to take up, with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), the issue of finalization of 2.16 MMSCMD KG D6 gas with Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Limited (RIL).
  •  Pertinently, in June 2010, the petroleum ministry had finalized the tie-up of the balance 2.16 MMSCMD KG D6 gas for NTPC NCR stations. However, despite continuous follow-up by NTPC, RIL had not worked out the agreement for supply of additional KG D6 gas, alleging that it would increase the potential liability exposure for the company.
  •  This 2.16 MMSCMD of gas includes 1.73 MMSCMD to be supplied to Dadri and Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh where a case is pending with respect to the levy of sales tax,  and 0.43 MMSCMD is for Anta and Faridabad projects.
