Firm commitment from KG-D6 field: RIL won't cross 60 mmscmd

In an exchange of letters with the petroleum ministry, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has made the following points on instructions from the government on the signing of GSPAs:
RIL has followed all the decisions and directions of the EGOM as well as complied with its contractual commitments and the directions given by the government on the subject.
  •  If RIL were to commit volumes beyond 60 mmscmd at this stage on firm basis, RIL may be found to be in breach of valid and subsisting agreements entered into on the instructions of the government.
  •  On the signing of additional GSPAs, RIL is under legal advice obtain necessary directions from the government for reducing allocations under the firm GSPAs already signed on a pro-rata basis such that the overall firm commitment remains within 60 mmscmd. Suitable directions have been sought by RIL in this regard.
  •  RIL is happy that because of constraints in committing more than 60 mmscmd from KGD6, the Empowered Group of Ministers in its recent meeting had approved allocation of 2.2 mmscmd of ONGC C-series gas to some of the KGD6 customers in Uran so as to keep firm commitments in respect of KGD6 within 60 mmscmd.
  •  RIL is now looking forward to implement the EGOM decision on switching of Uran customers of KGD6 gas to C-series gas so that signing of additional GSPAs with firm commitment  from KGD6(as directed by the petroleum ministry) are executed without exceeding 60 mmscmd.
