NTPC to develop 1,320 MW Coal Plant in Gujarat

In a bid access the techno-economic viability of the proposed 1,320 MW Dhuvaran thermal power project, state-run NTPC would soon kick-off the necessary survey and investigation (S&I) work. The Government of Gujarat has given in-principle clearance for setting up of the project, on the surplus land available at the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited's (GSECL) Dhuvaran plant, in the Anand district of Gujarat. These facts were revealed during a meeting, which was called for developing the modalities for setting up the coal-fired power project, in New Delhi, today. 
 The proposed thermal power project will have two units of 660 MW units of super-critical parameter, which would be fuelled with a blend of domestic and imported coal. The feasibility report of the project is likely to be ready by March, 2011. The meeting was Chaired by Bharatsinh Solanki, Minister of State for Power and was attend by Saurabh Patel, Minister for Energy, Government of Gujarat, ICP Keshari Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power and R S Sharma, Chairman Managing Director, NTPC.
