GVK's 800-MW power project in AP to be built by Hyundai, L&T

Private power producer GVK Power and Infrastructure today said its Rs 3,200 crore gas-based power project in Andhra Pradesh will be build by a consortium of South Korea's Hyundai Engineering and Larsen & Toubro.
A consortium of Hyundai Engineering and L&T will execute the 800-MW combined cycle power plant and the equipment will be supplied by Siemens, a company official told.The 800-MW Gautami gas-based combined cycle power plant is being set up at Samalkot, in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.
The project is expected to be complete in the next three years. "The project would be complete in three years from now and the cost of the project is Rs 3,200 crore," the official said. An investment of approximately Rs 4 crore is required per megawatt of generation capacity at gas-based power projects.
All approvals, land, water and other requirements have been tied up and energy from the power plant will be sold to southern states, as well as Maharashtra. GVK currently owns and operates gas-based combined cycle power plants with a cumulative capacity of 915 MW in Andhra Pradesh.
