Adani Power to commission 3rd Mundra unit in a month

Adani Power Ltd (APL) is likely to commission the third unit (330 MW) of Mundra thermal power station within a month.According to sources, the company has test-fired the boiler and is now streamlining the operation before bringing it on generation mode. This will also mark the beginning of commissioning the second phase of the proposed 4,620 MW plant.
APL has commissioned the 2 X 330 MW phase-I of the project. Both units are running at full load. In the second phase, the company will commission two more units of 330 MW. The commissioning of both the units is scheduled for October.
According to sources, work on the first super-critical 660 MW unit in phase-III is in advanced stages of completion, and the unit is expected to be on stream by December-January this fiscal.
The commissioning of the unit will also mark APL's entry into super critical generation segment.
The company will set up a total of five 660 MW units under phase-II and phase-IV.
Chinese equipment
Sources said the company's experience with Chinese power equipment was “extremely satisfactory.”Adani group is the largest user of Chinese power equipment in India.
Apart from Mundra, the company is also setting up a 3,300 MW thermal power plant, using Chinese super critical technology, at Tiroda in Maharashtra.
Plans are afoot to set up 1,320 MW at Kawai in Rajasthan and 2,640 MW at Dahej in Gujarat.
The Dahej unit will be located close to the Adani group's proposed bulk commodity handling terminal. The terminal is expected to come on stream next month.
Coal block
Group subsidiary, Adani Mining, has also proposed setting up a 10x250 mw power plant at Angul near Talcher in Orissa, using coal washery rejects.Adani Mining has been awarded the job of development and operation of a coal block in the locality.
