UPERC determines tariff for Rosa TPP Phase-I

The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has passed an order on a petition filed by Rosa Power Supply Company Limited (RPSCL), a subsidiary of Reliance Power Limited (RPL), for the determination of tariff for its 600 MW Rosa thermal power project (TPP) Phase-I, being executed at Rosa, in the Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, for the period FY 2009-10 to FY 2013-14. The Rosa TPP has been proposed to be developed in two stages of 600 MW, each, with the first stage consisting of 2 units, each of 300 MW capacity.8Tariff in respect of the project has to be determined under the UPERC (Terms and Conditions of Generation Tariff) Regulations, 2009 and the agreed Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), and is to comprise of the annual capacity (fixed) charges, consisting of interest on loan capital, depreciation, return on equity, operation and maintenance expenses and interest on working capital, along with the energy (variable) charges covering fuel cost and the incentive as provided in the PPA. 
  • The tariff as determined by the commission stands at Rs. 1.53/kwh (2009-10), Rs. 1.47/kwh (2010-11), Rs. 1.63/kwh (2011-12), Rs. 1.65/kwh (2012-13) and Rs. 1.63/kwh (2013-14), as against the Rs. 1.54/kwh (2010-11), Rs. 1.72/kwh (2011-12), Rs. 1.74/kwh (2012-13) and Rs. 1.72/kwh (2013-14) claimed by RPSCL.
