NTPC says 2,320-MW Mouda plant near Nagpur would be commissioned in 2012


The government-run power major NTPC today said its 2,320-MW Mouda plant near Nagpur would be commissioned in 2012.The coal-based power project will have two units of 500 MW in the first stage and two units of 660 MW in the second stage, the state-run firm said in a statement.
“NTPC Mouda kept date with an important milestone on with successful completion of Boiler hydro test for its 500 MW unit today,” it said. It is NTPC’s first greenfield project in Maharashtra.Besides Maharashtra, the power from Mouda plant will be supplied to other states and union territories of Western India.NTPC is also taking up its second greenfield project in the state at Solapur. It will generate 1,320 MW of electricity.It has an installed capacity of 34,194 MW and achieved a record capacity addition of 2,490 MW in 2010-11
