Unit-1 of Mundra UMPP to be synchronized post partial load evacuation

The partial load evacuation for the 800 MW unit-1 of Tata Power`s Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP), situated in coastal Gujarat, is likely to be available by end of August 2011, post which the unit will be ready for synchronization.
  • To accelerate the process, Doosan has proposed a 4 month cycle, as part of a detailed plan of action, till the commercial operation date (COD), which is to be provided by the company.
  • Some of the critical activities, such as steam boiler operations (SBO) and turbine generator (TG) on barring gear, were concluded in June 2011. Along with this, the bottom and fly ash system were also commissioned early this year.
  • On the other hand, the oil synchronization was delayed by 3 months and is now expected to conclude by the end of the month. Similarly, the coal firing process cannot be finished before August, even though the required amount of coal has been transferred from port to plant stock pile.
  • In view of the problems encountered by Tata Power, full load generation for the project has been postponed to November 2011.
