The Supreme Court on Wednesday admitted a petition by Tata Power against the Government's green signal to Reliance Power to utilise surplus coal from captive mines meant for its Sasan project in Madhya Pradesh for other projects. The apex court will hear the matter in detail in February 2012. Tata Power had challenged the Empowered Group of Minister's decision to allow excess coal from captive mines allotted for Reliance Power's Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project to be used for another of its project — the 4,000-MW Chitrangi project in Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, Reliance Power said in a statement that it is proceeding ahead with the implementation of its projects as per schedule.
