Mundra UMPP: Tata concludes steam blowing of Unit-I

Tata Power India Limited, India’s largest integrated private power utility, has successfully completed the critical steam blowing process at Unit 1 of its 4000 MW Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP), being set up by Coastal Gujarat Power Limited (CGPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the company. The first unit is thus on track for commissioning by September 2011.
  •  The Mundra UMPP is also otherwise progressing as per schedule with engineering, procurement and construction activities in full swing. At Unit 1, the turbine generator (TG) was put on barring gear in February 2011, boiler light-up was done in March 2011, and steam blowing of steam lines was also commenced during the same month. At the other four units, equipment and piping erection is progressing sequentially.
  •  Notably, Coastal Gujarat power Limited (CGPL) was incorporated as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to implement the Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project. The project will have five units of 800 MW each, generating a total of 4000 MW power using supercritical technology.
