- The heavy industries ministry has highlighted a myriad amount of factors, like lack of adequate infrastructure and critical inputs and dependence on sub-contractors that generally do not employ skilled manpower in adequate numbers, that have all earned bad name for the equipment company.
- This rebuttal comes after the MoP expressed grave concerns over the slow pace of work exhibited by BHEL on various gas based power projects, namely Pragati CCPP (1500 MW), Hazira CCPP (351 MW) and Pipavav (2x351 MW), as well as the lignite-based Neyveli (2x250) MW Extn-2.
- The ministry has, further, asserted that the lethargic pace was not endemic to BHEL, and such factors outside of contractor-control are hampering other such companies too.
