NTPC's 1000-MW Mouda Power Plant to Begin by 2012

NTPC would set up two 500-MW units by 2012 in its first phase of power generation at Mouda plant near here, at an investment of.5,700 crore, Nagpur District Guardian Minister Shivajirao  Moghe said. The first unit will start power generation by March 2012,while the second unit will be functional by September. The work on setting up two units of 500 MW each is on schedule and necessary land acquistion has been done within record time without any resistance from the farmers, Moghe told reporters here during a site visit.Moghe said the project would cost.5,700 crore for first phase (1000 MW--500 x2) and.8,500 crore for second phase (1320 MW--660 x2).NTPC plants will get coal from public sector Western Coalfields and water from Inter-District Irrigation project at Gosikhurd, he said.
