Adani eyes 32 pc share in power sector by 2020 - To have combined generation capacity to the tune of 18,500 MW by year 2020


Adani Enterprises Limited will have a combined power generation capacity to the tune of 18,500 MW by year 2020 and control 32 per cent share in overall power produce in the country, a top company official said. 
The Adani Power is currently working on speedy completion of power plants at seven location across the country at Mundra (4620 MW), Tiroda in Maharashtra (3300 MW), Kawai in Rajasthan (1320 MW), Dahej in Gujarat (2640 MW), Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh (1320 MW), Bhadreshwar in Gujarat (3300 MW) and at Chendipada in Orissa (2000 MW), Dev Prakash Joshi , Chief Operating Officer of Adani power generation division, told reporters. 

In India, consumption of power per capita is a mere 612 kWh (Kilowatt per hour)compared to the global average of 14, 240 kWh, he said adding that the Adani Group has paid adequate compensation to the farmers whose lands were acquired for setting up the projects. Adani Enterprises recently acquired coal mines in Australia and Indonesia with collective reserves of 157.8 million tones, Joshi said adding that the company imported 29 million metric tonnes of coal in the fiscal 2010. 

Besides power generation, the Adani Group has engaged in the coal mining at Parsa-Kente in Chattisgarh, Machchakata in Orissa, Parsa in Chattiagarh and Chendipada in Orissa.
