NTPC adds 2,820-MW capacity in last fiscal


NTPC said its capacity addition in the last fiscal was 2,820 MW.

The company had added 2,490 MW in 2010-11 and its total capacity now is over 37,000 MW.

In FY 12, NTPC brought on stream two units of 660 MW at Sipat (Chhattisgarh), 500 MW units each in Jhajjar (Haryana), Simhadri (Andhra Pradesh) and Vallur (Tamil Nadu).

The company said in a statement that it added 9,610 MW during the 11th Plan against the target of 9,220 MW.

The total installed capacity of NTPC is 37,014 MW with 15 coal-based, seven gas-based power stations and seven joint venture/subsidiary power projects.

It is currently working on over 14,000-MW new capacities and plans to become a 128,000-MW plus company by 2032.
