State-run NTPC, which is in a legal dispute with Reliance Industries over gas supply to two of its Gujarat projects, on Thursday issued a Rs 2,600-crore global tender for power generation equipment for the one at Kawas. "We have issued tenders after receiving assurance for interim gas supply from the government. The power producer plans to call bids for expansion of the other project at Gandhar within a month. Both projects, of 1,300 MW each, qualify under the government's mega power policy and the supplied equipment would qualify for fiscal benefits. Power equipment suppliers, including Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd , Larsen & Toubro-Mitsubishi Heavy Industries ,Bharat Forge , Siemens and General Electric , are expected to bid for the Kawas and Gandhar expansion contracts, the official said.
